Channel 4 Forced to Axe Latest Youth Show

Following an unprecedented number of complaints, Channel 4 have axed their controversial late-night youth show, "Shit Lollipop", after only one episode, having been officially charged with publishing obscene and offensive material.

The Friday night "after pub" programme - hosted by ex-Word presenter Terry Christian, and vapid Page 3 girl Jordan - contained scenes of "nudity, swearing and obscenity on a hitherto unseen scale", according to a report by viewers' watchdog, the Television Complaints Commission. On hearing the news, a shocked Terry Christian said, "I'm amazed that people complained about this - we were trying to take 'The Word' and move it on a stage further, and obviously people weren't ready for that."

The report paid particular attention to the part of the show in which, as part of a mock-up gameshow, young females were invited up from the audience to strip naked and stand inches from a bound and gagged male pensioner and scream insults into his face as the drunken audience howled with laughter. In another part of the programme, a guest (novelist Irvine Welsh) was clearly shown under the influence of drugs as he fouled himself while sitting on the sofa during an interview in which he only used the word, "fuck".

Other parts of the show included a pig having darts thrown at it, an alcoholic being made to drink whisky, and another "gameshow" where a male audience member had to choose which window to break with his forehead - one of the three being real.

"I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. Ask the kids. The kids loved it", said producer Paul Ross. "As for the pensioner, well I asked him afterwards and I think he said he loved it. When you invite Irvine Welsh on your show, you're always going to get danger - and the window thing was just a bit of a laugh, pure and simple. The bloke's alright now anyway. And who gives a flying fuck about a pig?"
